Each year National Technology Day is celebrated on 11th May across the country. National Technology Day is a day that signifies the remarkable achievements accomplished by India in the field of Science and Technology. Reasons for the Celebration of National Technology Day:
– Indigenous aircraft “Hansa-3” was test flown at Bangalore on this day.
– Trishul missile’s successful test firing was performed on the same day.
– India executed three successful nuclear tests which were carried out at Pokhran, Rajasthan on May 11 itself.
National Technology Day is celebrated to profoundly recall the technological developments in the field of agriculture, health, bio-technology, pharmacy etc. The achievements of several scientists and engineers are highlighted, thus giving them a sense of pride.

On this day, various events such as competitions, lectures, seminars, presentations, quizzes etc. are held at schools, engineering colleges and technological institutions across the country. The President of India gives away the National Technology Award to individuals and companies to honour them for their noteworthy contributions to science. Besides this, the Science and Technology Minister come forward to organize a variety of programmes and events.
