An initiative was taken to raise the awareness level among the school children of Delhi regarding dreaded diseases of the liver like Hepatitis and also about health issues like organ donation on December 4th — Hepatitis Day. The presentation was held at the Maulana Azad Medical College and was organised by the Delhi Government’s Department of Family Welfare. The initiative was assisted by G.B. Pant Hospital and College. This makes a lot of sense as nearly 45 million Indians suffer from Hepatitis B and 15 million from Hepatitis C that lead to liver failure and cancer. In fact, the number of recorded deaths due to Hepatitis B in a year is more than that of AIDS!! Children were also educated about the importance of organ donation with regards to saving human lives.
