In the month of August we had/have the following celebrations at Shemrock.
Friendship Day
Friendship day at Shemrock schools was celebrated on 1st August 2009. The programme started at 4:00 p.m and continued till 6:00 p.m. The two hour programme had a lot more than just fun and masti for the kids.
Friendship Day at Shemrock is a masti day. For masti and celebration there were many fun-filled activities for the kids to enjoy like Train Ride, Talent Show, Fun Games and Aqua Dance. A lot of children participated in various games especially aqua dance and won beautiful prizes. Additionally children exchanged gifts, toys and sweets with their friends. My child really enjoyed the Friendship Day celebration at Shemrock, said an enthusiastic father.
Apart from all this there were some interesting competitions for the parents like ‘Friendship band making’ & ‘card making’. It was surprising to see a huge number of parents including moms and dads both participate in the competitions. They equally enjoyed the day with their kids.
Raksha Bandhan:
Raksha Bandhan is an important festival of our Indian culture. It is a festival of love and affection shared between a brother and a sister. Raksha Bandhan at Shemrock was celebrated on 3rd August 2009 with lots of fun and masti. There were lots of exciting activities for the kids to enjoy like Rakhi decoration contest, card making, singing and dancing programmes. Children on that day came in colorful party dress. They exchanged sweets and toffees with their friends, had lunch together and did lots of masti. Teachers also told children stories related to Raksha Bandhan so as to enlighten them with the true meaning of this festival.
Janmashtami 2009 Celebration:
Janmashtami is one of the important festivals in India. It is a day when we honor and celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna – the eight incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Shemrock schools will be celebrating Janmashtami on 13th August 2009 at the school premises itself.
Children on that day will come in colorful-party dresses. Some children will also come in Radha or Krishna attire. Lots of activities and games are planned for the Janmashtami day celebration like dancing, singing etc. But the most interesting of all the activities will be ‘Matka breaking’ in which children have to break the ‘Matka’ full of Butter. For this they can take help of their friends. Everyone is really excited for this activity.
Independence Day 2009 Celebration:
15th August 1947 is an important day in the Indian calendar. It is celebrated as the Independence Day of India. The date commemorates the day when India got freedom from the British rule after a long struggle. This national festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country including Shemrock.
Shemrock will celebrate Independence Day on 13th August 2009. On this day the whole school is decorated with national flags and tri-colour balloons. The day is also marked with flag hosting and cultural programs for the children like Hindi poem recitation, dance performances etc. Teachers also organize small skits based on the theme so as to make children more aware of their Country and its great people.
Happy Janmashtami 2009
