5 Study Habits for Highly Effective Learning

The key to effective studying isn’t cramming or studying for longer hours, but studying smarter! It’s the study habits of every individual learner that can have the largest impact on the effectiveness of their learning. Children can develop and apply effective study habits to improve their efficiency in studies.

Given below are 5 study habits that children can develop and improve their ability to learn and assimilate information:

  1. Set realistic and achievable goals, before you begin working hard to reach these goals over a set period of time.
  2. Assign two types of learning objectives – long term & short term. Set lesson aims for the day as short term objectives and personal targets for the next term as a long term objective.
  3. Recognise your strengths & weaknesses. This will help you create challenging but achievable targets for yourself.
  4. Develop a capacity to involve yourself in all types of activities and learn using a hands-on approach.
  5. Find a good balance between work and rest. It’s important to give the brain a break from time to time. Bearing this mind, plan a healthier approach to studying.

The above are some of the important habits that highly effective learners share. Self-belief, tenacity and determination are equally essential, and together, all of these traits and techniques can help children in reaching their full potential.
